Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce Plans 20th Annual Creek Bank Festival

Leeds, Al- The Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce is working diligently to plan the 20th Annual Creek Bank Festival scheduled for Saturday, April 26, 2014 in the Leeds Veterans Memorial Park.

The day’s festivities will include a 5K and Fun Run sponsored by the American Cancer Society. Registration will begin at 7:00 AM with Opening Ceremonies starting at 8:00 AM. Enjoy Zumba and Stretching before the 5K Run/Walk, sponsored by Curves, which begins at 8:45 AM and the 1 mile Fun Run will begin at 9:00 AM. There will be water stations along the route as well as after the walk/run. A balloon release will take place to honor or remember those who have fought the battle with cancer. Registration may also be done at www.CreekBank5K.org. All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.

The Sweets Bake Off, sponsored by Reliance Technologies, Inc., kicks off with the taste testing by the judges at 10:00 AM. If you have a dessert everyone loves or thinks is unique, then you need to enter this contest. Ribbons and prizes will be awarded and there is no cost to enter. Get your sweet tooth ready because the sweets will be sold at the festival immediately after the contest.

The 1st Annual Mascot Challenge begins around 11:00 AM. The Chick-fil-A Cows, State Farm Mascot, Higrove Vet Care Dog, Home Depot Homer, Leeds High School Greenie and Sparky are among some of your favorite Mascots who will compete on the obstacle course as well as be available just prior to the challenge to meet and greet. This will be a fun and exciting segment of the festival entertainment.

For the dog lovers, the Creek Bark Pageant, sponsored by Higrove Vet Care, will highlight dogs of all shapes and sizes and there will be plenty of activities all day long. The four pageant divisions include Little Mr. and Mrs. Creek Bark, Jr. (Puppies-6 weeks to 1 year), Little Mr. and Mrs. Creek Bark (under 40 lbs.), Mr. and Mrs. Creek Bark (over 40 lbs.) and Dog/Owner Look Alike (3 winners). Dogs must be up to date on vaccines to participate. Ribbons and trophies will be awarded as well as there will be treats and toys given away and pamphlets on dog care. All proceeds from the pageant will go to the Greater Birmingham Humane Society. Agility, Obedience, Rally demonstrations as well as interactive activities for dogs and their owners are planned throughout the day sponsored by Petiquette.

For that special Princess, A Little Princess Party, sponsored by LA Salon, Flowers & Boutique, will be available throughout the day with refreshments and activities.

Shelby Duke and Roy Mac are among the performing vocal artists. The Shops of Grand River will be sponsoring Clowns, a Balloon Artist and Face Painting. Creek Bank Festival T-Shirts will be available to purchase at $15 each in a variety of sizes.

Other entertainment is lining up and more information will be coming soon. Be sure to “Save the Date” so you will be able to enjoy the festival. Also, please don’t forget to register for participation in one or more of the festivities.

Festival Booth Space is available for food, crafts and other types of vendors. Electricity is available on a first come-first serve basis and some booth space is limited to one space per type of vendor, so immediate registrationis highly recommended to ensure your participation.

Celebrating its’ 20th year, the 2014 Creek Bank Festival will provide plenty of fun, food and entertainment for you, your family and friends to enjoy so please help us get the word out and mark your calendar so you won’t miss this exciting event!
