LAC Reception for Mara Jambor

Through her work in photography and videography, Mara Jambor has been a student of visual arts for most of her adult life.  She has spent years in high-end editing with IMac’s Final Cut Pro.  She loved being creative and telling stories through cuts, zooms, pans, transitions and the right music, and film provided by that venue.  Just as with painting, understanding and using light is a crucial part of filmmaking.  Mara loved working with light to alter the imagery.  So, it was a bit of a shock in January of 2015 to find herself totally stuck in learning the newest version of Final Cut Pro.  About the same time, her creative husband was living his dream of being a jazz harmonica player.  Mara realized she needed a new creative outlet and fast.

Because a friend of hers who had taken up impressionistic painting began posting her work on Facebook,  Mara contacted her friend and joined her in Beth Bradley’s art class.   Thus, she says her “real” painting career began.

Mara loves color and composition and leans toward free brush strokes and impressionism. She wants her paintings to appeal , not just to one’s  eye but also one’s heart.  She wants her work to touch the soul and give reason to pause and smile.  More importantly, Mara hopes you take Goethe’s quote to heart, “Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it.”   She continues to paint with Beth Bradley, but also, has taken lessons from Rollina Oglesgy and Carol Carmichael and attends ongoing classes taught by David Nichols.

The artist has exhibited at the Birmingham Art Association’s Fall Art Show, the Andrea Lucas Studio  and the Mountain Brook Art Association’s Holiday Art Show.
