Racing for Children

Friends,

I am writing to ask for your support and assistance for a very special program that benefits Children’s Hospital of Alabama. The Racing for Children’s weekend this year will be held April 25th – 27th in conjunction with the 2014 Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama and Pirelli World Challenge Series at the Barber Motorsports Park. Last year’s event garnered a tremendous amount of media attention and financial support as Motorsports Hall of Famer Hurley Haywood hosted our dinner honoring Bayleigh Phillips and Emily Knerr and their stories.

Our Team is being led this year by our “Honorary Crew Chiefs” Kelsey Hunnicutt and Jaylen Smiley and once again, Racing for Children’s will serve as the Official Charity of the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama. In addition to raising money for Children’s Hospital and promoting awareness of pediatric cancer and blood disorders, our goal is simple – to make a difference in the lives of deserving kids. As such, I would appreciate your help in sharing this with those who may be inclined to help us support Kelsey and Jaylen and so many others who need our help with their individual “Races.”

There are three ways you can get involved and any and all support is appreciated. Specifically:

1) Please consider attending our Racing for Children’s Dinner & Charity Auction on Friday, April 25th beginning at 6:30 pm, benefitting the Alabama Center for Childhood Cancer & Blood Disorders at Children’s Hospital. Guests will enjoy champagne courtesy of United Johnson Brothers, meet celebrity drivers and team members, and bid on a selection of high-end auction items such as a Photo Safari to Africa, a Caribbean Vacation, and a 1 Day Porsche Sport Driving School. Speedway Sponsor tables are $2,000, Lap Leader tables are $1,000, and individual tickets are $125. Purchases can be made online via the Registration tab at: RacingforChildrens.org

2) If you can’t make it to the race this year, please consider sponsoring a patient’s Handprint on the #4 Racing for Children’s Porsche racecar that will be racing on Saturday, April 26th and on Sunday April 27th. Again, sponsor a child’s handprint via the Registration tab at: RacingforChildrens.org Note that all proceeds from tickets and handprints benefit the Alabama Center for Childhood Cancer & Blood Disorders.

3) At a minimum, please help us fight childhood cancer by simply forwarding this email to your friends and contacts. You wouldn’t believe how much this actually helps.

Thanks again for your help and support and I hope to see you at the races at Barber.

Doug
