The Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce is here to help you in any stage of your business. One of the first places to start for a new business startup or relocation of your business to Leeds should be the Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce.  We can help you navigate with the City of Leeds, we can make important introductions for you provide you with business building information, upcoming events that can impact your business, workshops and more.

Step One

Choosing a Location, Certificate of Occupancy to Obtain Your Business License and More

The first step in even thinking about starting a business in the City of Leeds is to visit City Hall at the City located at 1400 9th Street.  The Leeds Business Resource Team is there to help you through each stage so you don't have any surprises when you go to obtain your business license only to find out that there are problems with your building that you weren't aware of or any other problem you might encounter.  By contacting the City FIRST instead of when you are ready for a business license to do business in Leeds, you can navigate the steps easily before there is a problem or issue.

Here is a direct link to the City of Leeds Business page with plenty of resources to help you along with a City of Leeds Business Licensing Guide which is a step-by-step guide to walk you through the processes.

Step Two

Obtain Your Business License and Open Your Business

Once you obtain your business license and set a date for your grand opening or a soft opening, contact the Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce to schedule a ribbon cutting to announce to the world that you are open for business.  The Chamber can schedule your special opening event with city liaisons and other business professionals to make your opening day a success.

To schedule your ribbon cutting, please contact Amy Lee, Executive Director, at 205.699.5001, 659.297.5644 or Amy@LeedsAreaChamber.com to schedule a date.

Step Four

Get Involved with the Chamber and Your Community

Now that you are a Chamber Member, we invite you to dive right in and get involved.  The more involved you are in your local chamber of commerce, the more you will get out of your association.

First, attend your monthly chamber of commerce luncheon which is the third Thursday of each month.  This is a great business networking event to meet other business professionals, have a great lunch and hear a dynamic speaker that can help your business grow.

Corporate Sponsorships are available if you would like more business exposure in that realm.

We also feel that each business should have a seat at the table each month at our Corporate Ambassador meeting.  This meeting gives the opportunity for each attendee to have a moment in a round table setting to share what's new or what's going on in your business, hear a business building tip, learn more about other businesses in town, learn more about upcoming events hosted by the chamber of commerce and other events in the community that could impact your business or you may want to get involved with.  This group meets at noon on the third Wednesday of each month at Mango's Cantina & Grill, unless otherwise specified.

Serve on a Committee.  The Chamber of Commerce has a number of committees that support our local businesses, the City, our schools and our community.  Serving on a committee broadens your opportunities to meet and develop relationships with key people in the greater Leeds area that could impact your business.

Additional Helps

Business Mentorship, Workshops and More

As a Chamber Member, in addition to the above mentioned helps, the Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce provides assistance in many areas.  We are here to help you get the most out of your chamber membership and provide mentorship to you in many aspects to help you grow.

We schedule occasional workshops that are relevant to your business.

The Chamber has partnered with Jacksonville State University's Business Procurement Department to provide free business coaching and helps to assist you in any stage of your business.  It is possible to schedule your meetings right here in Leeds rather than having to travel to Jacksonville.  Virtual meetings are also available.  This help is available at no cost to the business and is paid for by government grants.

If you are interested in the Chamber hosting a particular workshop, please let us know.  Also, if you would like to schedule an appointment with someone from JSU's business department, please contact us to help you facilitate that.

As your local chamber of commerce, the Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce supports your business, your community,  your schools.  We are your information bureau, your business research and your liaison between city government and the business community.

The Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce is here to help you every step of the way.
