THE STORY:
In this riotously funny Southern-fried comedy, the three Verdeen cousins—Gaynelle, Peaches, and Jimmie Wyvette—could not have picked a worse time to throw their family reunion. Their outrageous antics have delighted local gossips in the small town of Sweetgum and the eyes of Texas are upon them, as their self-righteous Aunt LaMerle is quick to point out, and a jaw-dropping high-stakes wager is made on who bakes the best red velvet cake for the family reunion. The reunion is on, and the cousins can’t back out. A parade of wildly eccentric Verdeens gathers on the hottest day of July, smack-dab in the middle of Texas tornado season, and things spin hilariously out of control!

GAYNELLE VERDEEN BODEEN – one frazzled nerve away from a complete melt down
LA MERLE VERDEEN MINSHEW – matriarch of the Verdeen clan
UNCLE AUBREY VERDEEN – patriarch of the Verdeens
JIMMY WYVETTE VERDEEN – rough-around-the-edges manager of Whatley’s Western Wear
PEACHES VERDEEN BELROSE – the number one mortuarial cosmetologist in the tri-county area
BITSY HARGIS – a perky, nosy neighbor who is a throwback to another decade
NEWT BLAYLOCK – the one-eyed owner of Miss Treeva’s Wig & Bait
SHERIFF GROVER LOUT – the sheriff
ELSA DOWDALL – Gaynelle’s German-born, court-appointed psychologist
MAMA DOLL HARGIS – Uncle Aubrey’s girlfriend, who has short-term memory issues
PURVIS VERDEEN – an eccentric cousin who takes photos of all deceased Verdeens in their coffins
