Overview
The Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce is a vibrant, growing community of member business and non-profit organizations from across the greater Leeds area and beyond. The Executive Director leads the Chamber’s effort to serve as a constant support and resource for business and non-profit organizations of all types and sizes. The Executive Director role is to be a face of the organization as they complete efforts to ensure the Chamber continues to be successful for years to come. Self-motivation and poise are a must, also the ability to organize, plan, lead and manage at all levels. The Executive Director should also possess strong critical thinking and analytical skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to demonstrate the value of the Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce to current and potential members and sponsors, have good listening skills as well as a passion for member engagement, networking and collaboration.
Primary Accountabilities
- Serves as the chief administrative officer for the Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce
- Manages Chamber business within the framework of an established budget developed and approved by the Board of Directors, to include managing Chamber income and expenses to achieve annual budgeted net income goals and approving all financial disbursements for the Chamber, among other duties.
- Provides general supervision over work performed for the Chamber by volunteers, vendors, etc.
- Plans and maintains the Chamber master event calendar for major Chamber sponsored events, Grand Openings and Ribbon Cuttings, Board of Director meetings and Executive Board of Directors meetings.
- Actively engages the Leeds business and non-profit community as a brand ambassador for the Chamber, to include promoting the benefits of a Chamber membership and listening and responding to the needs of member businesses, resulting in new members joining the Chamber and retention of existing members.
- Serves of Board of Directors as an ex-officio member or as otherwise directed by the Board.
- Oversees the planning and execution of all Chamber events, including scheduling, recruiting volunteers, sponsorships, advertising, maintaining budget, etc.
- Provide strategic analysis of Chamber operations and events, evaluating for profitability, cost benefit, alignment with Chamber mission and making recommendations accordingly.
- Continually assesses Chamber efforts to engage and provide value to Chamber membership, generating new ideas and initiatives to ensure expectations and interests of members are being met.
- Other Duties as assigned by the board of directors.
Additional Responsibilities
- Acts as a liaison between the Leeds Area Chamber and the City of Leeds assisting with Town hosted events as needed and coordinates with Leeds Police Department and/or Fire Department on major events as necessary.
- Serves as an active member or Chamber representative to applicable community organizations.
- Provides customer service for Chamber members and the general public.
Skills & Qualifications, Education
- Proven experience in executive leadership roles, preferably in a chamber of commerce, non-profit organization or related field.
- Strong ability to listen, receive feedback between Board members, chamber members, community leaders in the greater Leeds area.
- Experience with Chambermaster and QuickBooks is a plus.
- Strong strategic planning and organizational skills
- Excellent public speaking and written communication skills
- Excellent time management and event planning skills.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Proficient user knowledge of computer operations and systems
- Ability to lead by personal involvement and example but uses delegation wisely.
- Knowledge of Leeds business landscape and community dynamics is a plus.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.

- This is a full-time position.
