October Guest Speaker: Jerry Hood, LHS Football Coach
Join the Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce for our October Chamber Luncheon. We are excited to announce that our guest speaker will be Jerry Hood, Leeds High School Football Coach. Our meeting is scheduled for 11:45 a.m.on October 21 at Leeds First Baptist Church Family Life Center located at 7481 Parkway Dr. Lunch is $12 payable at the door. About the Speaker:
Coach Hood started his career as an assistant at McAdory High School in 1993. Hood moved to Clay-Chalkville, as an assistant, in 1996 to help open Clay-Chalkville High. From there, Hood moved to Oak Mountain High to help open that school. Hood served as Defensive Coordinator from 1999 – 2004. Hood was named Head Coach at Oak Mountain in 2004.
Coach Hood led the Oak Mountain Eagles to the State Semi-Finals in 2005. Hood then accepted the Head Football coaching job at Clay-Chalkville High School in 2009. Hood served as the Head Coach for 8 years with the Cougars. The Cougars won five straight Region Championships from 2010-2015. The Cougars also won the Class 6A State Championship in 2014 and finished with a State Championship Runner-up Finish in 2015. His record at Clay-Chalkville is 84-17. (50-4 at Home)
Coach Hood has spoken at Clinics across the country. He has also coached in the Alabama North-South All Star game2013, Alabama- Miss. Game 2015, and the US Army All-American Bowl 2016. Hood served for 5 years on the Alabama – Miss. Selection committee.
Hood was named USA Today Coach of the Year 2014 and ALFCA COY 2014.
After brief stints, as an assistant, at Clay-Chalkville and Briarwood Christian schools, Coach Hood was hired at Leeds in 2019. Leeds has been ranked in the Top Ten polls for the entire 2021 season.
Jerry Hood is married to Amanda Hood. The couple has four children; Olivia, Christian, Daniel, and Vica. These are his greatest loves.
