Chamber Update
Our Board of Directors and Corporate Ambassadors have held several meetings in the past weeks and we are pleased with our progress so far. During the last year while we were not able to meet for our luncheons, our Board of Directors and our Ambassadors have met periodically either virtually or in person, when we were able to so we could continue to carry out the work of the chamber.
This year, we have begun conducting smaller group meetings that focus on particular areas of chamber support that our members are welcome to plug into. These smaller meetings have given select businesses a chance to meet face to face with proper social distancing where we can all work together for the common good of our local businesses and our community at large. Besides moving our Chamber mission forward, it fills a void while we are not able to have larger group luncheons and events. The Shops of Grand River has been so gracious to provide a great space for us to meet temporarily for these small group meetings.
Here is a photo from our February Ambassador meeting:
In addition to our monthly Ambassador meeting which meets the third Wednesday of each month, we have held a chamber membership meeting and a retail support meeting which was made up of chamber board members, ambassadors and chamber members.
Retail Support Committee
Our Retail Support Committee Meeting included a short customer service training with Shannon Johnson of Chick-fil-A, a short marketing and social media training with Dona Bonnett of adr Business & Marketing Strategies. Retail businesses from each area of Leeds were present along with several chamber board members and ambassadors to discuss, collaborate and strategize on how our local retailers can work together to drive traffic to Leeds, cross promote between the retailers and ideas on how the chamber can support this group of local businesses. The meeting was facilitated by our 2021 Ambassador Chair, Randell Pickering of Mills Pharmacies.
Membership Committee
Our Membership Committee Meeting discussed membership support with making visits to deliver the new 2021 window clings. Each team member chose which businesses they would like to visit. Visits are being made throughout the month by Sandra and membership team members. This committee will continue to work on membership support ideas.
Small Group Meetings Give Members Face-to-Face Time
These smaller group meetings are open to chamber members who have an interest in working more closely with the chamber to accomplish our mission and better support our local business community. Each chamber member can send one or more staff members to our monthly ambassador meeting to represent your business and will have a moment to speak about what’s going on in your business.
