World Diabetes Day Event
November 14th is World Diabetes Day! World Diabetes Day, which is celebrated on November 14th is the world’s largest diabetes awareness campaign with around 500 events in more than 100 countries organized in 2015. Over 387 million people worldwide have diabetes and of that number 29 million Americans suffer with the disease. Alabama is the number one state with the highest prevalence of diabetes.
In recognition of this significant event, Miss Leeds, Briana Kinsey will be hosting the Daring to Defeat Diabetes Poster Contest which will feature an exhibition of artwork from students from various schools to focus on ways to defeat diabetes and live healthy. This event will take place at Leeds High School at 11:30am and will also feature the Daring to Defeat Diabetes High School Ambassadors in a balloon lift tribute to persons who suffer from diabetes.
